With increasing regulatory requirements and a growing awareness of sustainability, the pressure on companies to transparently document their environmental and social responsibility is growing. At the same time, there are many Software solutions that are designed to provide support in precisely this area. But which of these tools really offer added value and fit the individual needs of your company? <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As part of the it’s OWL project ‘Strategic Management of Dual Transformation (DualStrat)’<\/a>, Fraunhofer IEM and Schmitz Cargobull have conducted a comprehensive market analysis of software solutions for carbon accounting and ESG reporting. This study offers companies a unique overview of more than 90 software solutions and shows how closely digitalization and sustainability are linked. <\/p>\n

Evaluation according to clear criteria<\/h2>\n

The study evaluates the tools according to various criteria. “We compiled the criteria for evaluating the software solutions based on webinars we attended, discussions with other companies, preliminary talks with tool providers and our own knowledge,” says Thomas Wissing de Freitas, Sustainability Manager at Schmitz Cargobull AG. <\/p>\n

Detailed profiles for easy selection<\/h2>\n

A total of 38 of these solutions were described in detailed profiles. Each profile includes a brief description, key facts and a list of reference customers who already use the tool. This allows companies to quickly and easily compare the available solutions with their own requirements. “By publishing the results, we hope to be able to support companies in selecting a suitable software solution for their sustainability reporting,” emphasizes Nick Schreiner, Innovation Manager at Fraunhofer IEM. “However, the market is developing rapidly, so many of the software solutions we looked at could already have even more extensive features today. We therefore recommend using the study as a basis and supplementing it with the latest information from the providers.” <\/p>\n
