Direct Manufacturing Research Center (DMRC)

Additive manufacturing technologies offer significant advantages, especially for direct manufacturing of end-use components. Accordingly, interest in this technology continues to grow across industry, science, and education. The Direct Manufacturing Research Center (DMRC) advances additive manufacturing through targeted research and technology transfer, supporting both industrial applications and academic education.

The DMRC consists of two pillars: DMRC e.V. as the industrial consortium and DMRC Academic at the University of Paderborn. Research priorities are defined together with industry partners, while interdisciplinary academic teams execute the projects. The portfolio includes dedicated DMRC research activities as well as national and international collaborative projects, ensuring strong industrial relevance and impactful scientific progress.
