Little data, lots of insight: developing AI applications for small data (AI4ScaDa)
Small data instead of big data: With the help of artificial intelligence (AI), companies analyze their large amounts of data (big data) and try to create added value from their data. However, the use of AI methods poses challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition to a lack of know-how, technology or infrastructure, SMEs also have much smaller amounts of data, also known as small data, compared to large companies. AI development therefore offers great opportunities for small data applications, especially for scarce data, and is therefore also the focus of the project.
The aim of the project is to develop an AI solution consisting of an information fusion and an interpretable artificial intelligence (AI) in a modular and generalized form, which also supports data collection, for example in the laboratory, through feedback. The AI solution has a modular structure with a microservice architecture and standardized interfaces. This ensures that AI4ScaDa can be transferred to different company structures. The AI solution is being developed in the consortium for three specific use cases and at the same time tested in terms of its benefits and transferability.
